thus far

THIS YEAR HAS ROCKED
only 5 days in and im loving it. so many possibilities for 2011!! i dont want to speak too soon about any of this, but here are some possibilities on the table:
*doing my doula training in February (finally!) and perhaps attending my first birth!
*doing a 10 session art therapy group with pregnant women under the leadership of my friend Hillary, who works for the Art Therapy Institute (where I intern) and who did her master's thesis on prenatal care using expressive therapies. Baller.
*Being in a dance performance sometime in the spring with some amazing dancer friends of mine, one of whom asked me today if I would be interested in doing a solo piece and choreographing another (UMM YES PLEASE)
*getting more involved with dance and movement things in this area- namely starting an aerial acrobatics course here in Chapel Hill next week! (if they still have space for me!)

......etc. So yeah, who knows how much of this will actually pan out, but all of them are big real possibilities right now. which feels really really amazing!

*on a completely random note, but since I want to remember this time in my life, here are some things i am into these days:
cooking chicken smothered with molasses and pepper
baked sweet potatoes with nutella
reading about birth, watching birth videos on youtube (it's fascinating!)
doing lots more yoga
getting really good at changing diapers (like, record time)
getting really good at feeding an 8 month old with minimal mess
.....and most exciting of all.....
BEING ABLE TO RUN AGAIN!!!!!!!
after 3 months, my ankle is finally ready for running. today, the 5th, was my first run since October 10th. HOLY SMOKES IT WAS AMAZING. I just praised and praised and praised the whole time. My beautiful friend Leah joined me for my triumphant inaugural run. I'm baaaaccckk!!!

So yeah, 2011 is lookin pretty good. Like, real attractive. Like I kind of want to date 2011.

I'll let you know how my positive possibilities turn out!!

HAPPY 2011!!!!!

I am currently in a very rainy, dreary Asheville chillin in my pajamas listening to Andrew play the guitar. Such a sweet New Years morning!!

Yesterday was an amazing day. I couldn't leave 2010 behind without some major reflection, as it was the hardest/craziest/most challenging/least favorite year of my life. So yesterday, December 31, I spent 4.5 hours journaling, writing down everything I could remember about the year! I went month by month, writing down names of all the amazing people I met, songs I listened to, feelings I had, events that happened, etc. Then I went straight to a Bikram Yoga class (90 minutes, 105 degree room... good lord) and sweated out the year. It was such a great last push to the finish!! I left feeling a) exhausted b) cleansed c) ready for 2011.

I did this last year on my Kaitlin in Africa blog and want to do it again:
On the last day of every month in 2010, I came up with a word/adjective to describe that month. Ive done this for 2 years now and it is such a great way for me to reflect.

So here you have it:
The year that was 2010

January = transition
February = hectic
March = colorful
April = rejuvenating
May = reflective
June = roller-coaster
July = blur
August = closure
September = connect
October = reality
November = anticipate
December = the road

Who knows what this list will look like a year from now!
I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2011!!!
